03/26/2008 - I just updated the 'education' page so it's a little more current now.

03/10/2008 - I've been tinkering with a couple of projects.  I'm in the midst of an experiment in 'galvanic etching' inspired by the Steampunk Workshop.  As part of that, I'm try to learn how to use GIMP to produce the images for the project.  I may put some more info online as I get further along.  I've also downloaded the Audacity Sound Editor to try to learn how to work with audio files.  I took a wav file that I copied from an old cassette tape and cleaned it up.  The original is a WAV clip of my maternal grandmother (Tillie Mouw Vant Hul) reciting Psalm 23.  I just removed some of the noise and then exported it to MP3 format.  Note that those files are pretty large - Here's a smaller file at a lower, but still acceptable, quality.

01/08/2008 - Okay, I finally have my 2004 London trip journal online.  This was a three week long trip through the NWC Theatre dept and the study abroad office to visit London and go to a bunch of plays and museums.  I've been spending free time hyperlinking the heck out of it.  Enjoy!

12/19/2007 - Wow, nearly two years now since I last updated the website.  I've got lots of stuff to add here now, so hopefully in the next dew weeks or months we'll get some interesting stuff here.  In the meantime, I've just added the Christmas letters for 2006 and 2007, and their associated poems, "The Carpenter at Work" and "King's Road."  You can also check out a poem I wrote this summer called "Elijah Prays for Rain."  The plan is that I will add in a bunch of poetry from the past, and also the journal for my trip to London.  I should also post some pictures of my new motorcycle and the home improvement project from the summer.  The entire site will be migrated to Expression Web and will make full use of CSS - The newest poems are a preview.

12/21/2005 - Okay, the Christmas letter is now available, as is this year's Christmas poem, "Immanuel". Also two more poems, "Speaking in Tongues" and "Root and Vine" - Check the poetry page for details.
05/11/2005 - Here's a quick poem I wrote last night. I was actually playing around with a Palm PDA and had an hour to kill, so I whipped out a simple sonnet called Morning Glories.
04/11/2005 - I've just added a children's story to the site. It's called "The Boy Who Became a Bear." I think it works rather well, and I have to decide now if I want to try and publish it. Check out the paragraph at the bottom of the Stories page for details.
02/23/2005 - I've now added five new poems. A Song in January is a simple sonnet I wrote; and yes, it actually happened to me. The other four poems are an experiment in Psalmody. I presented them at the campus 'Deep Song' poetry reading on Sunday evening, and I think they went over well. I really want some feedback though, because I just don't know if they really work or not. Oh, and all the pages here should now have a consistent theme applied. (If you ever spot any odd looking pages or broken links, let me know.)
12/22/2004 - I've been playing around with various things, just cleaning up the site and trying to get a default theme in place that isn't too ostentatious. The problem is that the web site was originally created in Word 98, and then updated with later versions of Word, and then modified with the 'lite' version of FrontPage, and then with the current version we're using on campus, FrontPage 2002, and now with FP2003. The links are rather a mess in places, and many individual pages just don't have the formatting or theme set up right. I need to figure out an easy way to convert everything to plain vanilla text web pages in FrontPage, and then apply the theme. I don't think an easy way exists. It could be a while before I get everything set up to my satisfaction...
12/21/2004 - Just updated the Poetry section with all the new poems, including the ones written in London.
12/20/2004 - Okay, the 2003 Christmas letter is up, as is the 2004 Christmas letter. And also the 2003 Christmas poem, and the 2004 Christmas poem. There's other stuff in the poetry section as well, like some of the poems I wrote on my London trip. I haven't updated this web site in ages, I know, but I've got a fair bit of stuff coming along, including my journal of my trip to London and perhaps some other stuff.
09/12/03 - Hey, I've also gotten the "Stitch in Time" poem up. If you like cross-stitch, check this out. I wrote it for my Mom when she fell and broke her arm last April.
One reason for a minute spark of enthusiasm is that I’ve finally finished my Christmas letter for 2002 and posted it. I’ve got pages up with my interests and my life's story, but keep your expectations low. Don't even think about looking for a photo. (Well, there are a couple of pictures, but I'm not in them, so it's okay.)
If you want to send me mail, use my off-campus email address. If you want to send me something on campus, as it relates to my job, use our mail system instead.
This page was last updated on 09/12/03. I've been working on getting my writing online. There's a fair bit to add yet, but keep checking as I add in letters and essays. I've just added the latest Christmas letter detailing the highlights of the last three years or so of my life, as well as the poems for Christmas of 2000, 2001, and 2002. I’m particularly fond of “Roses Bloom.”
This web site was mostly created with Microsoft Word, but I’m also experimenting with MS FrontPage to get a feel for working with the program.
