Northwestern College's Prairie Restoration Project
Terra Nova is active in restoring an 21-acre prairie which is located along Spring Creek near Hawarden, IA. This project was started in 1999-2000 by former student, Nate DeJager, using funds from Pheasants Forever and Iowa DNR. The prairie is in CRP and REAP reserve programs. Some of the upkeep involves mowing, prescribed burns, and hand-weeding out thistles, shattercane, and other undesirable flora.
